Over 40 sweaters to knit from 30 fishing villages, inspired by traditional designs.
Intrigued by the many children she saw in the old photographs of fishing boat crews, Stella Ruhe has made it her mission to delve into the history and lives (and sweaters!) of the young habitants of the Dutch fishing communities. Beginning with a short history of the dramatic lives of the Dutch children who lived in these communities, the book contains patterns for over 40 sweaters inspired by the ganseys they wore.
The sweaters range from ages 1-14 years, though each can easily be adjusted. Every gansey is accompanied by a diagram of the finished sweater, along with a chart detailing the key repeated textures and stitches used.
