Enjoy an afternoon workshop with knitting expert, Julie Cowan, who will guide you through how to knit Lacework. Looking at all the common lacework stitches, Julie will explain their function and how to read these stitches in your knitting while you work different patterns in a swatch.

A pattern for a lacework cowl has been designed by Julie specifically for this workshop and you will receive a copy of it during the session. The cowl is knitted in the round on circular needles and incorporates the techniques you will be taught during the workshop, making it an ideal first project to perfect your new skills and giving you a lovely cosy accessory to enjoy once finished!

Enjoy an afternoon workshop with knitting expert, Julie Cowan, who will guide you through how to knit Lacework. Looking at all the common lacework stitches Julie, will explain their function and how to read these stitches in your knitting, while you work different patterns in a swatch. Many lace knitting patterns are supplied in chart form so chart reading for both ‘row work’ and ‘in the round’ will be clearly explained. Lacework can be notoriously difficult to ‘rip back’ but there will be lots of helpful hints and tips should the worse happen. Common area’s of difficulty occur when there are increasing or decreasing within a lace section of your work. Julie will clearly explain how to work any required shaping into your lace knitting will lots of practical help and suggestions.

Skill Level:

  • Intermediate (participants should be able to cast on, knit, purl and cast off with confidence).

Material Requirements:

  • 3.5mm needles (either straight or circular)
  • Stitch markers

Age Requirement:

  • Minimum 12 years

Maximum Participants:

  • This workshop is limited to a maximum of 8 participants

Cancellation Policy:

  • If your circumstances change and you are unable to attend a workshop you have booked, please let us know as soon as possible. A 90% refund will be given if the cancellation is made more than 28 days in advance of the start of your workshop (10% is required to cover administrative costs incurred). Unfortunately, no refund can be given on cancellations made within 28 days of the start of the workshop, however, we would be willing to swap your booking over to another name, should you have a friend or family member that would wish to attend in your place.
  • This workshop requires a minimum of 4 participants to run.
  • Very rarely circumstances beyond our control may mean that workshops must be cancelled. Should this happen, the cost of your workshop will be fully refunded.
