This workshop is ideal for anyone wanting to try their hand at weaving. In this one-day taster workshop, Truro Wool’s expert tutor and experienced weaver, Julie Cowan, will guide you through the steps needed to create your own beautiful scarf using one of our Ashford Rigid Heddle Looms.
After a warm welcome, it’ll be straight on with getting to know and understand the Rigid Heddle Loom you’ll be using for the day along with learning key weaving terms and, of course, the all important techniques you’ll master over the course of the session.
You’ll be making your scarf using one of four stunning shades from James C Brett’s colour-changing Emotions DK range (choose from shades Interest, Optimistic, Happy or Calm)*. This yarn’s unique colour-shifting effect naturally creates beautiful, check-like patterns as you weave, producing a fabric that both looks and feels amazing. Simply choose your favourite shade from the four pictured, let us know your selection using the Customer Order Notes section on the checkout page, and when you arrive, your Rigid Heddle Loom will be pre-warped with your selected yarn, ready for you to start weaving straight away.
By the end of the session you should achieve a scarf that will be 1.5 meters long by 23cm wide. The maximum length you could achieve for your scarf will be 1.8 meters dependent upon the speed of your weaving.
*The scarf pictured has been woven using shade Interest.
